GETTING TO KALKAN - FLIGHT INFORMATION |

The nearest airport to Kalkan is Dalaman - a one & a half hour journey by car. Alternatively there is Antalya airport which is three hours away. Charter Flights When buying charter flights from a travel agent remember that they will be contracted with only certain airlines. It is important to look around all the airlines - either via different travel agents or by calling the airlines direct (as listed below). A return 1 or 2 week charter flight should be from £120-£200 depending on the time of year. If the price is higher than that it is worth looking at the scheduled flights instead as they are more comfortable & more flexible date & time wise. The cost of charter flights usually goes up about 6-8 weeks prior to the date of the flight (- as that is when most people start to make their bookings). So increasingly it is best to book 3-5 months prior to when you want to fly or at the very last minute. Outside of school holidays one may be able to leave it until only a week, when the prices may drop down again in order to get rid of any unsold seats. Within school holidays the flight prices rise to around as much as £275-£400: Book well in advance for flights within the July/August period. Also bare in mind that September particularly the 2nd week onwards is the busiaest time of year in Kalkan so flights & accommodation get booked very early for that period. A last alternative is to buy any cheap package tour flying ınto Dalaman and just use the flıght. Package holidays to the large touristy resort of Marmaris for example are often sold off very cheaply. Scheduled Flights Scheduled flights go from Heathrow & Manchester to Dalaman (sometimes via Istanbul) with Turkish Airlines. Turkish-Cypriot Airlines (Kibris) fly from Stansted to Antalya Airport. Scheduled flights are usually around £230 - 400. |
